From the 2026-2027 academic year, admissions for the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in the three Government Fine Arts Colleges functioning under the Tamil Nadu Government Department of Art and Culture (Chennai Fine Arts College, Kumbakonam Fine Arts College, and Madurai Fine Arts College) will be conducted through a unified state-level entrance examination and a single-window system. These three colleges will also serve as examination centers, and students can choose any center for the entrance exam. Eligibility requires passing 12th standard or equivalent. Applications and details are available on www.artandculture.tn.gov.in. The deadline to apply is 08.06.2026. Admissions for postgraduate (MFA) degrees in Chennai and Kumbakonam colleges will continue under the existing admission process. The colleges offer BFA specializations including Painting, Visual Communication Design, Sculpture, Industrial Design in Ceramic, Industrial Design in Textile, Print Making, Integrated Design, Animation and Visual Effects.
