To boost production of black gram, green gram, red gram, and cowpea and achieve self-sufficiency in pulses, the "Mission for Self-sufficiency in Pulses" is being implemented in Tamil Nadu by the Department of Agriculture with central and state contributions from the 2025-26 financial year. Under this scheme, a 33% subsidy, up to 25 lakh rupees, will be provided in the 2026-27 financial year for establishing pulse processing units to add value to the produced pulses.
