The Tamil Nadu government has taken action against illegal quarrying, temporarily suspending 67 quarries and initiating further action on 88 more, following inspections and a high-level meeting chaired by the Minister for Natural Resources.

Following inspections across quarries in Tamil Nadu under the orders of the Hon'ble Minister for Natural Resources, 67 quarries operating with violations have been temporarily shut down. Additionally, 469 vehicles involved in illegal mineral transport have been seized, and illegal mining has been identified in 78 locations.
