In an accident on 06.07.2026 at the Arasuththipattu Open Direct Paddy Procurement Center in Orathanadu Taluk, Thanjavur District, paddy bags collapsed, resulting in the death of Smt. Chinnaponnu (aged 55). Smt. Sagunthala (aged 25) was injured in the same incident and has been ordered to receive special treatment at Thanjavur Government Medical College Hospital. The Hon'ble Chief Minister Thiru. S. Joseph Vijay has ordered a compensation of Rs. 3 lakh to the family of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 to the injured person from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund.

A condolence message has been issued regarding the death of Thiru. Ra. Balu from Narsingapettai village, Thanjavur district, due to a soil collapse during borewell deepening work in Thiruvidaimarudur area. The government has ordered to bear all necessary treatment costs for Thiru. Ra. Marudhavaanan, who was injured in the same incident.

Vinoth announces that interested Farmer Producer Organizations/Cluster Federations/Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies/individuals can receive a subsidy of up to 25 lakh rupees for setting up pulse processing units under the "Mission for Self-sufficiency in Pulses".
To boost production of black gram, green gram, red gram, and cowpea and achieve self-sufficiency in pulses, the "Mission for Self-sufficiency in Pulses" is being implemented in Tamil Nadu by the Department of Agriculture with central and state contributions from the 2025-26 financial year. Under this scheme, a 33% subsidy, up to 25 lakh rupees, will be provided in the 2026-27 financial year for establishing pulse processing units to add value to the produced pulses.
