Minister Tmt. G. Jagadeeswari conducted a surprise inspection in Chennai of the Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme, assessing food quality and distribution, and also reviewed the functioning of childcare centers, emphasizing quality, taste, and hygiene.

To boost production of black gram, green gram, red gram, and cowpea and achieve self-sufficiency in pulses, the "Mission for Self-sufficiency in Pulses" is being implemented in Tamil Nadu by the Department of Agriculture with central and state contributions from the 2025-26 financial year. Under this scheme, a 33% subsidy, up to 25 lakh rupees, will be provided in the 2026-27 financial year for establishing pulse processing units to add value to the produced pulses.
